I didn't think Harry Reid had the balls or votes needed to bring the Health Care bill to the floor for debate. Whatever he did behind the scenes with the other senators has payed off, cause numbers don't lie folks: 60-39. Yeah yeah, I get that this is bad news for a minority of you (I've already had it out with a political peer of mine), but tonight, I'm actually gonna allow myself a little more hope for this country.

On another note, I'm presenting my research on Monday. It's felt like (and probably has been) hundreds of hours going over the Constitution and more court cases than I would like to remember, not to mention all the other conglomerate readings to actually back this shit up. Anyway, wish me luck. Oh yeah, my research was on DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act). Yep, I've found it to be unconstitutional on a number of grounds, including violation of Due Process, Equal Protection, and Full Faith and Credit clauses, as well as a violation of Congressional power under the 10th Amendment etc etc blah blah blah.

The religious argument against same-sex marriage means nothing to me or my research. I prefer to stay in the bounds of logic and law where religion is/should be respectfully separate, not to mention I like to remind everybody of the fact that this is a secular nation. We shouldn't all be subjected to Christian ideology, even if some think we should.

I'm getting too political again...
